Chinthe Pride

The Naga and the Chinthe are two mythological creatures widely portrayed in Burmese folklore. They are still very much alive in traditional art, drama, literature, and music in Myanmar. The Elementary School at ISY formally began in 1955 and was represented by the Naga (as serpent-like creature). The International High School was founded in 1976 and joined the Elementary School at its present location in 1988. The Chinthe represented the High School. The Naga is known for its power, and the Chinthe is known for its strength, and the combination of power and strength symbolized by these two mythological creatures well suited the merger of the two schools. Our current school logo portrays both figures to show our unified strength and power.
