Join the ISY Summer Experience!

What It's All About...


ISY continues its ongoing efforts throughout the summer this year to expand our Global Learners, Lifelong Service initiatives to all students in the Yangon area.The Summer Academies were created to provide impactful socialization for students in grades Kindergarten - 8.

Students will enhance their abilities to work in groups, be creative, and stay active in the ISY options offered by faculty and community members.

~Regular Price per Academy: $300 USD


All registration closes June 1, 2018





All academies will be held Monday - Friday during the weeks advertised

from 8:00 AM - 12:00 Noon on the ISY Campus




Academies by the Week

Week 1: June 11 - 15

Karate Academy:

Grades K-2

Learn Karate with Black Belt instructor Mr. Aung Min. Aung Min has been teaching karate to young students for several years here at ISY in our After School Activities Program. Whether you’re brand new to karate or are looking to move up to the next level, this academy will help you keep your skills sharp over the summer.




ELL, Arts, and Creativity:

Grades K-5

This unique program is for elementary students who are looking to improve their English language skills while being creative and artistic. Ms. Diana and Ms. Wah Wah will teach wheel throwing, drawing, and painting techniques all while practicing your English. Develop your written, reading, and spoken English in a fun, creative environment.


Basketball Academy: Grades 6-8

This program will offer skill development and real game experience. Mr. Bushnell will help you improve your shooting, dribbling and passing, all while learning the value of teamwork and sportsmanship. Learn new strategies on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball, and best of all, it will be fun!




Swim Academy:

Grades 6-8

Spend your summer mornings in the pool! Coach Kalu and Coach Win are excited to offer a swim program this summer, catering to students with various levels of swimming ability. Whether you’re just starting out, or want to stay sharp for next swim season, our swim academy will get you where you need to be.


Dance Academy:

Grades 3-6

Join Contemporary Dancer Ivy Kuhn for a week exploring fairy tales with opportunities to draw, write, and create your own fairy tale adventure! Students will learn new ways to create their own choreography and engage in body awareness practices improving flexibility, stamina, and balance. Dancers will also have the chance to learn a Broadway number from the classic Disney fairy tale Beauty and the Beast and the adventurous Aladdin learning jazz and musical theater technique.

Students can expect a dynamic and fun environment where they are encouraged to express their creative spirit and develop their contemporary dance practice. No dance experience required. Please wear loose clothing you are comfortable moving in, socks or bare feet are fine.

Week 2: June 18 - 22

Dancers can expect a dynamic and fun environment with opportunities to draw, write, and use their creativity! Together we will gather inspiration from stories, music, and personal experience.
